Acústyka

Acústyka is an Adult Contemporary Rock group from Austin, Texas featuring John Ardila (lead vocals, electric and classical guitar), Jayme Muñoz (classical guitar), Nick Lewis (bass guitar), Jim Watson (drums), and Gary Reece (keyboard, electric guitar, and background vocals). 

Their music combines soulful vocals, masterful classical and electric guitar-work, and exciting, catchy melodies to create a new, spicy flavor of rock at its finest! 

Shortly after being formed in January of 2004, Acústyka released their debut CD, Sunrise to Sunset with original band members John Ardila (founder), Ron Tindle, Gino Macias, Angel Villarreal, and Eric Nanyes.

John Ardila, trained vocalist, accomplished electric guitarist and talented songwriter, was looking to take the band and music to the next level by forming a group of “big gun” musicians who weren’t just great, but devastatingly great. 

Jayme Muñoz, John’s long time friend and award winning guitarist from the group Cadaques, now forms the basis of the Acústyka “acoustic” sound with lightning quick Spanish-guitar virtuosity.

Jim Watson, a natural-born drummer who has been playing most of his life,  added his extreme talent to the band in 2006.  Don't let those boyish good looks fool you; he can get down and dirty on the skins.

Nick Lewis, bassist, hales from Southern Louisiana and has lived in Austin since 2001.  He has a unique and unmatched talent, having toured with such big names as Sister Sledge, Wayne Toups, and Terrance Simien.  

Gary Reece is the newest addition to the band, bringing Acústyka to a new level with his unique stylings on electric guitar and keyboard.  Stay tuned for more on Gary in the next acustyka.com update!

David Lynch, a music reviewer for the Austin Chronicle, described their music as “…Journey meets Santana, with a touch of Strunz and Farrah thrown in for good measure”. 

Their upcoming CD, due to be released in the fall of 2006, reflects their growth as friends, musicians and as a dynamic and experienced performing act. From captivating and soaring to powerful and driving, Acústyka has taken their music to the next level.

Acústyka has played throughout Texas at landmark venues such as Antone’s in Austin, Fitzgerald’s in Houston, and The Granada Theater in Dallas and has performed with well-established artists such as Del Castillo, Monte Montgomery, Vallejo, and Patricia Vonne, just to name a few.

Acústyka was honored that cuts from Sunrise to Sunset contributed to the Austin Latino Producers winning of the “Best Soundtrack” and “Best Sound Design” awards in the international filmmaking competition “The 48-Hour Project”. 

Acústyka is on the fast track to success with great music, dedication to their talent and a powerful live show that displays an obvious love for what they do. They’ve re-introduced Art, Style and Class back into Rock and Roll!!
